if its a core system you remove the hard drive if you bought one. If its the premium you have to send it with it from what I remember. so it might be worth moving some saves and that to a memory card.

I have a premium console and i did not have to send the HDD back, just the console itself.

Mine was a core, but what they basically said was I didn't have to send the hard drive, but if it was causing the problem and I didn't send it, I was adding weeks of turn-around time to getting it back.

Only send the hard rive if they asked for it.
If they didn't, then don't send it.
