Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again.
KICKING KING will miss the entire season after suffering a recurrence of the tendon injury that has sidelined him for the last year.

The 2005 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, who has been out of action since winning last season’s King George VI Chase, had been scheduled to return in the PaddyPower Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival.

Trainer Tom Taaffe confirmed the six-time Grade 1 winner has aggravated the problem in training and will not be seen this term.

He said: "He is going to miss the rest of the season. We will take a view over the summer months regarding his racing career for the future."

Taaffe continued: "It's a recurrence of the same tendon injury he suffered last year.

"Only the other day everything seemed on target for his comeback but every dayis a good day in a horse's life (when they are sound).

"We'll just have to grin and bear it.

"It's not a bad injury but it is bad enough that he will miss the rest of this year.

"He will now have to come back from two setbacks and we don't owe it to the horse to be hurting him.

"His last race was the King George and we have some fantastic memories already. We will decide in the summer if that will be his last race."

just makes you think doesnt it, more horses seem to be getting injured nowadays. look at cheltenham festival last yr... last yr i think it was actually on gold cup day there was a helicopter flying above the paddock. it made most ppl look up so it must have had an impact on the horses... seems to be no common sense anymore.

the attrition rate over the past few yrs has been nothing short of ridiculous. Is the breed becoming weaker due to the level of inbreeding prevalent?
