Fishing in Zelda

Ok, completely stuck in Zelda TP

I'm still at the start of the game, trying to fish for the first time to catch the fish for the cat. And it ain't working. Spent literally an hour and a half yesterday and I only got a "Fish On!" once. Been playing it for 45 minutes and still no luck.

I've tried bobbing the line up and down, holding it tight, letting float freely, nothing seems to work.

Help. Is there something i'm missing. Surely it can't be that difficult, since people have already completed the game and I'm stuck in what should be the first half an hour.

Tried using the bees wax as a lure? Use the eagle to knock the bees nest down and use the wax left over?

I did it without a lure, tho it did take a little while. Are you sure you're dropping the line near fish?

Cast your line in beside where the cat is. Maybe there's fish elsewhere but this is where I did it. You should be able to see some fish in the water before you start.

After that just wait a while. Nothing special to do.

When you get a bite just hold the wiimote vertically until you reels in or gets loose. It's a lot less fun than it could have been.

Ok, finally cracked it after reading this excellent guide

    http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/file/zelda_tp_fishing.txt

Basically (for anyone else still having trouble), you snap your line back once you see the bobber drop about half its length under the water.

Oh yeah. Sure they tell you that in the game. Pays to pay attention ;)
