the recorder is the tevion dvd4000 ... i got one last time they were for sale in june and have used the unit with any problem what so ever ... there was one issue with timed recording which didnt not work but apart from that very good recorder ... only drawback is that it cannot output to digital ( hdmi ) but i would recommend it :)

You will need to be there *at least* 30 mins before opening time. I'd go an hour or 45 mins early to be safe.

Aldi open at 12 noon on sunday, so getting there early is not too bad!

There were about 6 or 7 left in Finglas 30 minutes ago. Maybe other stores still have some too.

Just bought one of these today, although I see that its cheaper on the UK version of the ALDI site, it says its reduced but it only went on sale today same as over here, anyway its for sale at £64.99 = €94.00 approx, include our PRF fee of 2 euro = €96, cost €109.99 over here, not a fortune in difference but better in my pocket than ALDI's:mad:

Anyway, just a general observation on the price difference.

According to XE.com 64.99 GBPUnited Kingdom Pounds = 97.0291 EUR, so with the WEE charge and the difference between both vat rates, there not a hugh difference

Shouldn't be any problems, just hook it up with a scart lead to the device you want to record off. Probably won't well to copy from a vhs or dvd with copy protection though

Picked up one in Parnell St about 1pm yesterday. Seemed to be plenty left. Haven't tried it yet.

Set one up in the gf parents house yesterday. Don't seem to shabby, nice recording menu, seems really quick ending recordings etc.
Don't really think yea can go wrong, even comes with a DVD-/+RW (don't know if its a + or -).
Records from anything yea pump into it, SCART, composite and it even has a built in tuner! Though, its auto setup is ****e, best off manually tuning in all the stations and naming them.

Yeah set mine up last night , handy enough to switch between your source. Must try the manual tuning as the auto one picked up my terrestrial channels in very poor quality.

Did anyone get this setup with NTL Digital. Piece of cake to pick up the analogue channels but once you switch the set top box on the DVD Recorder's menu disappears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭KeRbDoG

Go to the menu on the NTL box and make sure that theres no option called scart control turned on (if it exists on the NTL crappy boxes)

Anyone else having a problem with this unit? went to switch mine on this evening and the thing is dead, its plugged in and the switch at the back is powered on but the standby button nor the LED display is lighting up. There is power getting into it as I can feel the unit getting a little bit hot, but no sign of life other than that, pity, spent about 2 hours reading the manual the other night trying to figure out how to work it and now its dead:p will have to bring it back and I doubt they will have a replacement, ow well, cashback and off to Power City I suppose.

    Will you get cashback though?

Get onto the manufactures directly, they might be able to ship you a replacement unit, it's messy, but it beats a credit note you will prolly end up having no choice but to spend it on food :D

Got cashback no questions asked really except is it broken and I said yeah, grand so, and he gave me the refund, pity though wouldn't have minded a direct swap replacement, but all sold out, he said it would take 3-4 weeks to get a direct manufacturer replacement, but I wanted it for over crimbo so will buy something else, but as regards getting a cash refund absolutely no problem from ALDI which was excellent.

A longshot but anybody see any of these left in any other Dublin stores?
