I'm having a problem getting automatic updates to install on my pc. I installed many new ones earlier but a few security updates and Microsoft.NET Framework 1.0 SP3 will not install.

    Any help'll be appreciated.
    thanks

I often had that problem but just kept trying and eventually it installed correctly. Did it ask you to run the Genuine Advantage Validation Tool?

yeah i tried alot of times but it still just fails the exact same each time.

Nope the updates don't require any validation they're just security, flash, outlook, and media player 10 and the .NET framework.

I installed the newInstaller 3.1 but still no luck. When i try to install the updates manually they say they're is a problem with the installer which it said before i updated it also?????

It's strange maybe i should just wait and they might go in?

which version of windows are you running?
you should probably be using 1.1 if your on xp/2000

    First off I would Add/Remove .NET v1

Then delete the stored settings for Windows Update.

Stop the Automatic Updates Service (Start, run, services.msc)

Delete all the files and folders in the following folder C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution

Then try the MS updates site again.

Could try installing .NET Framework 2.0 as well.

have you installed the http://update.microsoft.com instead of just windows updates,

also have you added a whole range of microsoft sites to safe sites in IE
can't remember the list off hand but

    *.update.microsoft.com
    *.windowsupdate.com

don't do *.microsoft.com because of forums and stuff
