Comodo Firewall

    Hi,

I downloaded comodo firewall yesterday to my work PC and transferred the setup.exe to my new laptop with a usb stick. I want to install the firewall but an email form comodo tells me:

In order for Comodo to automatically install your license you must first enter the activation code included in this mail. Follow the steps outlined below to complete the registration process.

    1. Ensure you are connected to the Internet.

    2. Start Comodo Firewall.

    3. Enter your Activation Code at the welcome dialog. We advise you to copy
(ctrl+c) and paste (ctrl+v) the code directly into the field to avoid typing errors. Next click the 'Activate' button.

    4. Comodo Firewall will then use your Internet connection to contact the Comodo website.

    5. After your Activation Code has been authenticated, Comodo Firewall will download and automatically install your license.

I have the activation code to carry out the steps above, but a friend has told me never to connect to the web without my firewall set up. Herein lies the problem. Comodo want me to "connect to the internet" to set up the firewall, but my friend has told me never to connect to the internet without a firewall. How can I get around this?

Also, I have loaded the Firefox2.0 setup file to my laptop that I believe has an inbuilt firewall? Is it possible to run both these programs together?

Its ok. As soon as you enter the activation code, the firewall will be activated and begin working, so there's no chance for infection or anything like that. I installed this a while back and find it excellent. If you are still worried, run a anti-virus after you've installed it just to be sure to be sure!

Firefox 2.0 does not have an inbuilt firewall.

Regarding connecting, you should be ok as long as you start Comodo as soon as you have connected. You will have to be connected to get the license information, and while Comode is running it will be a functional firewall.
