It really makes me sick to see that they get away with this.

First the nintendo wii is for sale for 269.99. thats 20 euro more than the RRP price. but i can live with that but..

....they are charging 39.99 for a 2000 points card. These cards are supposed to be sold for 19.99. By there way it means you would be paying 16.00 for a snes game and 12 euro for a nes game and 20 euro for a n64 game.

Plus Wii play is 54.99. Again the rrp is 39.99.

I noticed that the Wii Points in there alright. Wouldn't you be sick if you paid that and then saw them in Game for 24.99. I try not to buy from HMV because there profit margin on alot of things is ridiculous.

If you can you should just use a credit card, the points are €10 for every 1000 points, the fact that even Game are charging €24.99 for 2000 is ridiculous.

yeah im gonna top up with a credit card. some shops are thieving pigs!

Look you lot need to calm down. the 249.99 price and all the other prices Nintendo stated were a price for europe. every country has different VAT to add on to that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 83 ✭✭xbox360dublin

yeah i get VAT, but in no way does it double the price of a product! not a chance! 24.99 i can live with. 39.99 is plain robbery.

He's not giving out about the price for the console but the price for the wii points, I'm going to make it my mission to tell everyone who can that they should just use a credit card instead of buying it in any of these shops.

How do you use a credit card to do it? Is it an official Nintendo website, or can you do it through the Wii interface?

Yeah I saw the Wii points in HMV Limerick at 39.99 and couldn't believe it! Their Wii section is a joke anyways. At the moment, its just an end on one of the shelves where you would normally see discount goods. They nearly have as much space devoted to the most rediculous bundle deal of all time, a DVD and a UMD of the same film..."watch it at home and on the move!!!" No thanks lol.

You just go through the Wii shopping channel, it gives you an option to add Wii points so you click on it and then it asks if you want to use Wii points or your credit card, so you click on your credit card, stick in your number and hey presto you have Wii points for the proper price! I bought Donkey Kong Country and Golden Axe, I think I might get Bomberman 93 later for some 5 player action!

HAHAHA, thats the worst thing ive ever heard!!! my god, what next.

but to answer the question of wii points, i think you can purchase the points on the interface when your on the shopping channel through the wii, like you can on the xbox 360

Ok, what's so funny about telling people they can get exactly what they want for cheaper than these shops are charging?

sorry dude, i quoted the wrong reply, my bad, meant to quote the DVD & UMD sale of the same movie in a bundle :)

    SORRY

No problem, I was wondering what was going on, I just thought you must have money to burn that you didn't give a crap about how much stuff cost! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 83 ✭✭xbox360dublin

no no, but it annoys me that people (like parents) who are unaware of what things actually cost will go in and pay double the amount for something just because the trust retailers and know no better!

Yeah I agree with you completely, I have loads of younger cousins and I tell all my auntie's where the best place is to buy whatever games they're looking for, it's getting a bit ridiculous now with the price of games.

the fact that HMV are charging double the going rate really is exploitation. They should not be allowed get away with that cause there will be parents who know no better at all just looking to make their kids happy. I'll also be steering people away from them this Christmas

Sure HMV were charging €49 for "42 All time classics" too.

Then you're interfering with Darwinism. People are dumb enough as it is without people letting them get away with it.

€20 of points x 1.21 VAT for buying in Ireland = €24.20 So €24.99 is reasonable tbh.

Of course in wonderful virtual interweb there is no VAT.. hence a straight price. Using your credit card just makes total sense... unless you feel a moral obligation to support the government :D

so are they actually in stock?

Still supporting the government paying €40 credit card levy p.a. though...

I'm pretty sure that I got charged VAT on the games I bought on the virtual console, there was a breakdown of it after you purchase some points.

Yes ? RRP is £39.99 Sterling, with some online retailers selling for £34.99

€54.99 is a fair price taking into account conversion.

Things sold on the internet in Europe must include VAT paid in at least one European country (usually a low VAT EU country with something like 16%). So multiplying it by 1.21 isn't correct as it probably already includes VAT, multiplying it by 1.05 is probably more correct.
