Hi guys Im thinking of getting a Tv Tuner Card for my pc after being seduced by the idea of free digital and analogue tv but the more I read about the state of it here in Ireland I think should I bother. The americans and British etc can pick piles of free to air channels in HD digital etc but we dont seem to have luxury of that well from what Ive read anyway. So what can you pick you up,is it worth the 150 or so for a decent card etcI have Sky Digital and live in Newcastle West Co.Limerick thanks guys

    Specs Intel E6600
    2gb Ram
    Ati x1950 pro
    Windows Media Centre

i think i have about 30 channels coming into my pc from my sky box..use mediaportal to record them all, soon as my own house is finished and i move in i'll be putting in a dvb-s card and getting all the free to air channels to allow me record two at a time...well worth it to me..

and i'm not far from you, killaloe here

I have a tv tuner card but it wont pick up the signal from my sky box!
it will however just about pick up rte 1 and 2 and tg4 (no go on tv3)
but then it is only from an indor aerial.
if you are interested its a club 3d

Actually it wil oickpup sky, you just need an IR blaster so that the PC can change stations on the Sky Box. This works well with MCE:

TV card is definately worth it in Ireland. That computer you have Everygood is total overkill though. 1.7Ghz is enough.

    success :D
Changed the output channel on sky box (from 68 to 38) and the card picked it up ...
    Happy camper here.
Only took me 8 months to get it working!

You should really use SCART instead of RF. Its almost pointless quality wise if you dont!

sky box is 20m away (straight line accross kitchen, hall, and living room ) more than 40m if wired neatly.
picture quality is great for viewing in the kitchen while doing the dinner.
A lot better than the signal from aerial.
