I've been friendly with the guys from the Hendon Mob for a while now and Joe has asked me to write 1 or 2 articles on basically anything poker related for the homepage

My question is: What could I write on?? One idea I have myself is to do something on the cash games in Ireland... I've played in most of them so I think i'd have a bit to write on.

PS: No smart answers like "how to be a luckbox" or how to bust "KK with KQ" etc!!!

How to get from playing €5 stt's in your kitchen to playing the 20/40 games you play online.

or i remember dealing your table at the EPT qualifier in dublin and you, micky werner (i think) and one or two others were discussing eachothers and others play at the high stakes omaha games online and from my point of view it did seem like you all knew each other pretty well and that the game was like a private little club... something somehow on this maybe?

or... how does being a recognised player affect your game if at all?

or... a fictional heads up game of cards between you and johnny moss for your entire bankroll!

Homosexuals in Poker; The untold story. :p

More seriously I think a piece on how a big big win can affect your life, relationships, friendships and general life could be a topic people havent covered yet. Not exactly upbeat I'm betting but I prefer to read honest writing then more "isnt poker greeeeeeeaaaaat!" stuff.

'How admitting to folding AA pre-flop can lead to abuse'. :)

    Serious answer now.
Seeing as you won 150K roughly 12 months ago, would be interesting to hear how you decided how much of your winnings go into your poker bankroll, and how much goes on 'real world' items, property, cars, family/partner presents etc.

how about an article on your wardrobe maybe,

"deciding what to wear for that big tournament"

    or maybe one about makeup

" getting the foundation right for the TV lighting "

I think there is room for some articles on

    - player confidence and how it affects your poker decisions
    - bankroll management and the effect of playing outside your comfort zone

RE: 1] It would be a short article on how to fill a straight.
2] Good idea. It's unbelievable the rumours and sh1te thrown at Flipper because he actually won something. Be a good read I think.

Something funny if possible, and anything that dosent involve, "i had AA and he did this and how could he do that and then I had and he did and etc etc"
I like to read anything about the subtleties of the game and something thats kinda entertaining in so far as anybody could understand it and enjoy it

You kinda blank him out after about 2 years.... Kinda like he's gone ultrasonic. You'll start to find it useful - watch how quiet he gets pre-flop when he has a hand! Oh, It's easy to put me on tilt - slowroll me!

Thanks guys for the suggestions guys, most have been really helpful. Nicky, I might keep your suggestions for my article on the Lancome homepage :D

How about writing an article entitled

"bad variance is another name for bad play"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,013 ✭✭✭kincsem

The highs and lows or Irish poker .....

Winning $1.75 million in Las Vegas .... to searching for $10 in a trash can in Las Vegas.

And what a kind, caring, loving, bunch of guys and gals populate the poker scene here. And how we like to remind people of things. :)

I would like to hear about the good times and the bad times from the top players.

I would love to read a genuine article that covered both the cocaine highs of winning tourneys and the many lows that card playing can create.
If you write an honest article you will get a lot of respect from real players but you may also be misquoted or ridiculed by jealous types (i'll give it a shot).

If you really want to write the kind of story that will be worth reading you have to know if you're strong enough to ignore the snide commentators.

I'm sure a few of us here would be happy to read the first draft and offer our opinions, for what they're worth.
Len will say more comedy, Tom will say more Brokeback Mountain intimacy, I'll say more rain drenched murder mystery noir.
I'll be happy to read it and offer suggestions if you want as I'm sure many others will too.

    gl, d.
