    300
The ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.

Anybody else heard of this? Based on a graphic novel of Frank Miller. I think it's out next March but I'm not 100% sure. The trailers are mind-blowingly good.

    Yes please.

Looking forward to this one as well. Anyone know what the Irish release date is ?

Yeah this looks like being one of the cinematic highlights of 2007 :D It is apparently being released in Ireland & the UK on March 30th, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back a month or two. Btw there is a new extended trailer available online (the HD ones are awesome!).

Looks really ridiculous in a way that makes men bare their teeth and ball their fists. I can't wait.

The trailer looks so so good, it's cruel showing it so long before it's out:mad:

How could we not have heard about it? :)

The Jury is still out on this one, could go either way.

Gerard Butler has a less then impressive resume of supporting roles and the CGI looks poor in the trailer.

However I am interested to see how they splice the idea of fantasy and historical fact together (I've made this comment based on the trailer)

    Could anyone recommend the book?

    Could anyone recommend the book?

I got a copy for my brother for xmas, he's a big fan of those sort of things. I only had a quick scan through and the animation is lovely, it looks interesting (but short) and very gory.

Other than that cant help you, ill probably rob it off him for a read over xmas anyway :)

Good stuff, might read it over the Xmas. I'll be sure to get a book token off somebody.

...the CGI looks poor in the trailer.

Are you serious? I thought the CGI was incredible in the trailer. The mixture of live-action and CGI was so impressive that it was difficult to tell where one ended and the other began (that sentence makes sense in my head but it's late and I'm tired. Hopefully you get what I mean).

Really looking forward to this. Damn the long wait...

    Ooooh, me likes theatrical trailer.

And it looks like they polished the CGI a little better since the teaser.

    Why isn't it out yet?!!

    Why are they so mean?!

Looks good and happily it looks far from being yet another Gladiator clone

So much work gone into it and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

Predictable, violent, and cliche'. Low budget Fx, and highly filtered to give an ancient feel. Lacks acting, directing, and production qualities of "Gladiator." Misleading historical interpretations. Inspite of this, reported a box office hit on release.
