    http://www.rte.ie/about/guidingprinciples2006.pdf

The latest Policy and Strategy from RTE has been released and contains information on all aspects of RTE from 2006-2010:

Information includes trial and rollout timetables for DAB and HDTV by RTE as well as proposed timetable for closure of RTE Radio MW (Q4 2008)

    Interesting reading :)

Reminds me of Albert Reynolds in the 1980's when a political reporter interviewed him in his constituency office, which was crammed full of boxes of unused manifestos. Asking why these didn't go out on the stump with him in the campaign, Albert's reply was something like 'Sure you can say what you like to their faces, sure what would they know what manifestos are!'

So, in this case, its a statement of aspirations without any threat to carry them out. Nice to see, but not worth a hill of beans.

60% of peaktime programmes in HD by mid 2010, with studio one converted by the end of 2008? I'll believe it when I see it, but if they keep to that plan it's a lot sooner than I would have expected.

Well as someone who develops medical strategies with Pharma companies I can say that as always these things only ever work out if there is strong driving leadership and a pile of money to make it work, so I too would suggest that this is a nice vision but will be very difficult to achieve.

Still, it's good to see that there is vision there and that RTE don't want to be taken by surprise by new developments :)
