    See http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5841.html

Looks a nice Smartphone with DAB TV and Radio.

I am not an expert on DABS, so am curious to know whether it will pickup radio here ? Also anyone know if RTE will eventually have a compatible TV service ?

According to the review it supports the following frequencies:

    UK
    L Band
    Band III
    All Frequencies
    Korea
    Canada

Sim free with online discount its £90 so not much more than a portable DABs radio, plus its a smartphone and can be unlocked to make it work with any SIM

DAB TV is abysmal compared with 3G or DVB-h

RTE are supposed to be rolling out DAB Radio (Band III) and have tested DAB TV.

I thought they were still in the "testing" phase ???

I have Lobster 700 here in Dublin. There's no TV but you can pick up various DAB digital stations, including some new RTE stations such as 2XM. The Lobster pulls in DAB stations stronger than other portables I've used, but it still loses the signal occasionally walking around the city centre. Reception in the UK is better - I was listening to BBC6Music almost all the way from Manchester to Holyhead with only losing the signal in tunnels and one railway cutting. You probably only get around 6 hours worth of DAB listening before having to recharge the battery: without listening to DAB, the battery will probably last a week.

I believe they're now in the more corporate level of "testing" - the service is on a full-time licence now.

I think the TV service currently on trial here is DVB-H (with O2). I have to say I was fairly tempted by the Lobster but not by its battery life when you use the radio - though are regular phones with FM any better in that respect?

My MP3 player FM radio lasts about 8 hrs.. FM radio needs much less receiver power than DAB.

DAB is missbegotten. Only useful for a Car Radio.
