I'm lookin at www.toys.ie (Smyths) and they say that Blanchardstown are "In Stock" .. and some other places are "Low Stock". I find it seriously hard to believe that Blanchardstown have any. Wonder how up to date that site is.

    Give them a call

Ringing any branch of Smyths at the moment is like p!ssing against the wind.
Both Liffey Valley numbers and Blanch's number is engaged and for a while I thought that maybe there were alot of calls going through... but when I finally managed to ring their number it turns out ppl are just ringing and nobody is answering on the other side, hence the constant enganged tone.

Look on the bright side. If they are not in stock but the website says they are, you get a €10 gift voucher.

Haha feck off Jabba :P I was actually thinking of making like 30 odd 'reserve and buy' things and seeing if I could get a free Wii but needless to say I couldn't figure out how the piece of sh!t function works on that website.

Thats a hell of a lot of units on Friday, cheers for the info again shadow. Looks like there'll be a mad dash on Friday morning again.

I was speaking to the Nintendo rep in Smyths today, about 40% of them will go to Gamestop, 20% to game, 10 % to argos and the rest everywhere else, as for the onlin gurentee (sp) you cant do it with the wii

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,262 ✭✭✭Vertakill

Sweet, there's a Gamestop about 2 minutes from where I work. I may have to run down a few kids on the Friday morning at school time to get there as they're opening though.

be warned there is going to be people there overnight again, what gamestop is it you work near?

lol vert, your parents will murder you if you get that Wii and keep it yourself

I very much doubt the 10k figure, but fingers crossed anyway.

Thats the numbers that will be shipped for ALL of Ireland (Inc northern Ireland)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,643 ✭✭✭magpie

    Is Wii good then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Hmm, well Northern Ireland is UK not Ireland, and I'd say they'll get a big chunk. For the initial shipment (launch) Ireland got very poor numbers.

Id say it will probally be 4000 the north and 6000 the south

I think he may have just been yanking your chain.. Nintendo in Ireland only supply the Ireland only chains.. so the likes of GAME, HMV, Virgin etc get their stock either from Europe or the UK..so the rep wouldn't have a clue who's getting what really..

I have hears rumours(which I dont believe) that gamestops and the like will be sitting on stock until friday and will sell off a load in one go. Anyone think there is any truth to this one?

PS its only been like 4 days since the wii was launched and already I feel like I have been waiting for weeks:D

I rang Game in Omni today and they said they have no dates when any more consoles are coming in. No one actually seems to have any solid info, which leads me to belive, perhaps, there will be a load coming in and we can all have one :D As i said in a previous post, i think this is a bit of a marketing ploy, i think there will be loads in time for crimbo, or i should say i hope!!!!

Just got a call from smyths in blanch last night! They have another batch coming in for their second preorder list people on friday!:D ! n im on it! Yay! ( plus i only put my name on the list 3 weeks ago!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭quad_red

and he is adamant that there is zero chance of any HMV branch in Ireland getting any more supplies before Christmas.

And he wants one for himself.

    So either
    A) The staff have been fed bull**** to further hype the product.
    B) HMV ain't getting anymore.

My (future) mother in law was in Gamestop Omni yesterday and the dude there told her that they'll have more in on Thursday and they'll be up for grabs to "anyone". I don't know if he was bullshítting her or not but give them a ring I s'pose.

Hopefully some few will becoming to Ireland

Also i find very amazing from that article is the fact that the DS sold more than 515,000 units in one week, making it the highest selling console out of the whole lot, in just 7 days. Good times for Ninty, and the money just keeps rolling in..
