just read in an earlier post that sky now allow for octo lnb's and that they are being sold on ebay. Are these ok? does anybody recommend any one particular brand? I have SKy+ & standard sky & another box with UK card so i have used all my inputs. I have wondered also about upgrading my other standard sky to sky+. Are you allowed to have Sky+ x 2 in your house and if so are you just charged for the equipment?

    Cheers

You can have 50 Sky boxes if you want, if you buy them yourself.

I don't know what the limit on a Mirror subscription is. I'd imaging that a Mirror Sub with 2 x Sky+ is €30 rather than €15, but you never know.

They are unlikely to care how many full subscriptions there are.

It would be better to not buy them of eBay. A Sky Dish Octo has a different mount etc to non-Sky Octo.

The other alternative is a Quattro LNB driving a 16 Way switch. These can be expanded to give 16, 32, 48 etc feeds, You need a regular non-Sky dish, though most will work not to badly if dish is very well aligned using Sky Quad adaptor Neck -> Tab adaptor

Don't forget BBC, ITV, Film4, SkyNews and all the the radio etc is free.

    Cheers Watty!

I rang Sky and they said that you would be charged an extra €15 for the additional SKY+ box. However, I got the feeling the girl I was on to wasnt really that sure. I subscribe to a premium service so it should be free i reckon. I dunno ill ring again and get a second opinion.

I have SKY+ with multi room and with a premium service. To have an extra SKY + box it should also be free if you have a premium sub yeah! Its a tricky one!

Anyone got 2 Sky+ boxes with multi room and if so what are they paying?

    Cheers!

No, well a Mirror sub is 15 Euro no matter what you have. So they don't want €15 Mirror + €15 Sky+?

Afaik if you have a multi room sub with 2 Sky+ boxes the primary box sky+ charge is waived if you subscribe to one or more premium channels.
The second sky+ box is charged at the mirror sub rate of €15 plus €15 sky+ charge as well.
Thus taking your monthly bill to over €90 a month.(with a top tier package)

I just have 21 Euro 2 x mix packs on main Sky box, 2nd Sky box only free channels and a non-Sky box to record free channels direct from satellite dish.

I have 2 Sky+ boxes in my house. We are on the Sky world package so all we pay on top of that is €15 for the multiroom of the second + box. We do not have to pay an additional Sky+ fee.

    Cheers Charlie,

This is what I thought! I have Sky+ & multi room with the sports package. I pay something like €70 a month. My reasoning is that if i get another Sky + box to replace the standard one currently used as the multi room one I should still pay the same price per month but just incurr the extra price of the second Sky + box!

Its just a hard one to explain to the customer service girls.

Yes actually now that I think about it the EMP Centuria Multiswitch can use a Sky Quad instead of Quattro for 1st LNB and costs less than a Octo. It has little switches for Quad. Gives 16 outputs and can take extra LNBs later for non-Digibox use.
