Can you put MP4 vids onto iPod without iTunes?

As the really long title says ? Can I just convert avis etc to MP4 files, and use something like ePhod to upload the videos onto the iPod ? I tried ePhod, and all it does is playback the audio on the iPod. iPod in question is the 80gig video one. Cheers ;)
