    Hi all,
Im heading to Singapore in a few week and hoping to get an Apple imac 12" there as I think the price will be lower than Ireland

Would annybody agree with me on that or has the day of Singapore being cheap for electronics gone??

Laptops are carried around alot, jolted, knocked... and consequently seem to be more likely to go wrong than desktops.

I'd say that it's only smart to buy a laptop in singapore if you can get a decent, international warranty.

Otherwise, if there are any issues, it might cost you much more to get it working.

the apple warranty is international so no problems there and Singapore uses the same plug system as here thanks to the brits, so no problems there either.

Just checked it out on apple singapore store and the price for a macbook is
€ 931.678 compared to about €1100-1300 here. Seem like a much better deal based on that.

A friend of mine was just out there and apparently there are good deals to be had.

thanks for the replys - im getting to small laptop for travelling as the desktop wont fit in my backpack - but I do think that getting an international warrenty is nearly more important than the laptop

might get 1or2 other electronics if there cheaper than home

If you loose all the packaging before you leave, who's to know when you bought it...

maybe bring some CD's so you can install some junk and put some pictures on it to "prove" it's yours - maybe a set of internet bookmarks
