2:05 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase (Grade 1)

I think there is a great dutching opportunity here for an overall price of around 1/2:

In Compliance - Trainer O Brien has shown a decent profitable record so far this year. This will be a test for the gelding, but he has shown great potential to date. He is proven on the course and proven over this distance. Has also proved himself on the heavy ground.
    Price: 5.1 - Stake: 2.95 points

    War Of Attrition
    - The star of the Mouse Morris yard. Top RP rated horse, he was beaten last time out by a brilliant performance by Beef or Salmon, and can be forgiven for that race. A great performer to date, he has rarely been unplaced in all of his runs. He is proven on the course, proven over the distance and proven on heavy ground.
    Price: 3.15 - Stake: 4.77 points

Justified - One of my favourite horses. Again, he is a great performer and has shown some great displays to date. McCoy is on board which is always a big bonus. Proven on the course and proven on the distance. Also proven on heavy ground.
    Price: 6.6 - Stake: 2.28 points

The two main threats are Hi Cloy and Nickname, but I’d reckon one of the above should take it

Total Cost of bet: 10 points.
Return if any selection wins: 25.04 points (including stake)

It's an interesting race alright. After reading what Morris has said in the RP it appears that he is adopting a cautious approach because of the ground. The feeling I got after reading the article was that he doesn't want todays affair to be a tough race because he would like to run him in Leopardstown over Christmas. Does this mean that if it is neck and neck over the final furlong that Conor will not push as hard as he normally would? hmm.

Leaving WOA out of the affair, I think Hi Cloy is the best of the others. It reversed dealings with Watson Lake in fine style at Aintree in April, where it also beat WOA (on its perferred ground, however WOA looked tired after Cheltenham). Its first appearance at Punchestown was just for the run over hurdles with todays big race being the target. Might prefer it a bit softer but no excuses if it doesn't put up a good battle today, and at 15/1 on betfair it is worth a euro or two.

Justified was well beaten by WOA last time out, and that could be ruled down to the pilot (come on I had to say it!) and if anyone can get it home it would be McCoy, a big danger as well.

In Compliance will relish the ground but its jumping isn't fluid enough for me to get involved. You're right wb, this is a brilliant dutching opportunity!
