Ante Post Triumph Hurdle

Absolutely wide open at the minute. It's not one of my favourite races I'll have to say but the betting does look interesting at present. Katchit was impressive today and I think it was amazing how he didn't go off favourite. I admit that I was very interested to see how Tritonix would run but it's about time the bookies started pricing races based on form rather than potential (or maybe it's not)...

Anyway, we're all gamblers so what about taking an interest in Mountain? He hasn't run yet but at 20-1 with PP (Best price, including BF) he could really be something special if he takes to the hurdles and at the moment there really is nothing spectacular in the race. Unless I've missed something?

    Opinions?

(I know I'm contradicting myself about the potential btw)

Wait til Mountain runs before you back him. There are a litany of once promising ex O'Brien horses that have gone jumping and ended up being a waste of horsefeed. Acropolis was fourth in an arc last time out fourth of six in a Hexham novice hurdle. Bookies will love punters punting Mountain now. Dont do what the bookies want you to. IMO throwing your money away.

THe triumph ante post market can change dramatically with one juvenile hurdle win, and there is no way that you can tell is you have missed the winner or not yet. There is a fair chance that you havent seen him on the course yet.

best to wait for anothe month at least a lot of good horses with big potential still to make the hurdleing debut

Ok two obvious points but I think it's a small wager that could be worth making. If Mountain does come out over Christmas and run poorly well fair enough, the money is lost, that's what gambling is all about....but if he does come out and win in tremendous style than that 20-1 will just be a decent memory.

Fair enough Fade if you want to back him, back him, just saying that there are plenty of better value 20/1 shots out there at the moment. Bookies love bets like these. Never seen a hurdle in public, might not take to them, was best in soft ground on the flat. Not for me.
