wii hate the lefties

Why the feck does nearly every wii game not give you the option of telling it whether your left or right handed ?

Seriously it's mad when the whole control system is so integral, that every game has a left handed setting.

Hell it should be built into the mii. Create your mii and designate left or right handness.

Rayman is an utter pain, took me ages to work out why it wasnt going right.

As a lefty I swing the controller the oposite way, so some of the swinging mini games are a nightmare, and the dancing one is completly reversed..

Then there's the already a complete utter nightmare to control RED STEEL. Why cant I swap the hand/arm to be on the left side of the screen so to reflect how I'm playing it.

It's a really big balls up that they never thought this through. 10% of wii owners will be left handed afterall...

Sort it out Nintendo and thirdparty's...

    Rant over.....

well in fairness Wii Sports at least allows ye to do it.

I'm left handed and i can honestly say it hasnt made the slightest difference to me
just put the nunchuck in your left and the remote in your right
    it feels normal

I'm left handed, haven't started playing yet, but I'm going to try and play it the way it was intended as I don't fancy wasting money on something I can't play because someone forgot about us lefties.

It doesnt feel natural to me. The remote should go in the left hand and nunchuck in the left as thats the natural postion for a lefty. You may be a little more ambidextrous than a lot of us 'real' lefties ;)

Say playing rayman, there's a dance section you have to shake the controler when bunnies appear on each side of the screen.

Unfortunetly it assumes you have your controller in the other hands, so left for me is right and right it left.

It just doesnt work. The controller isnt the problem, its the position settings.

Or swinging / rotating your controller at some games. It assumes you swing in a different direction as a righthanded person naturally would. Lefties tend to naturally swing somthing in the other direction.

    It's a balls up.

Red Steel - the arm and hand should be allowed to be positioned on the left like other FPS as it just seems bizzare and unatural then.

All this technology and they couldnt work out that 10% of all wii owners use the other hand ?

By that logic how do lefties manage with normal controls??

Are you unable to point with your right hand? Or press buttons? I'm a leftie, and the notion is ridiculous to me. There was certainly reasons for the DS to be leftie-friendly, with the stylus and all, but the Wii? I dunno!

    by not swinging them

This seems a bit daft, use it same as a normal controller, with the joystick under your left thumb, problem sorted!

    [edit]
Unless being lefthanded has made you totally unable to co-ordinate your right arm in any way...

I'm useless with my right arm, and yet I can play piano... its weird...

But your point it what? I have to conform with you

I'm a lefty too. I was going to do it the lefty way but I realised that some games don't have lefty settings. It felt really unnatural for me too at first when I switched but when you get used to it, it's ok. You better change now before you get used to the lefty way and find it hard to change.

then again does fishing with a 8 inch stick in your bedroom ever feel 'natural'

What would happen if you turned the sensor bar upside down?

would that reverse the left/right sidedness?

    L.

From what I've read I don't think putting the sensor bar upside down would change things, interesting idea though, never though of that :)

I'm a leftie, been playing Rayman with the remote in my left hand but then changing over just for the dance levels cos it's impossible otherwise. I agree that there should be a setting for it, there is in Wii Sports after all
