    MX518 is what i use.

Does the job nicely i really like the stab people in the face button on the side for use in BF2 :D
5 or 7 buttons and changeable DPI , handy for turrets etc:

Prone for left and crouch for one on top.

i'd say thats the case for every mouse. its called rsi or repetetive strain injury. i've played cod2 multiplayer for hours on end without problem.
i dont really use the extra buttons at all, just the normal 2 and wheel. its a really easy mouse to configure as it has its own gui so you can set it to suit your own preferences.
i also use the Razer mousemat which is aluminium and is smooth on one side for gaming and rough on the other for fine work such as photo-editing.

I have two different mice, I use a mx518 for Strat games where i need uber micro. ... And my razer diamonback for fps games. I prefere it to be lighter so i can flick the mouse with more acuracy. Which is needed for ut and cs. Not so much for bf2142. But the changable dpi is handy, like said above for turrets an planes.

Im thinking about buying the fatality mouse soon, As i like the idea of having interchangable weights in it.

the G5 has interchangable weight in it.

Didnt like the feel of it at all :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭christophicus

How did you get to feel it? did you buy , it or does someone you know have one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭tom_ass19

ya, think its got 4 different little weights, slots from the bottom of the mouse. Its pretty cool but i do prefer the mx518. never liked the razor, its too light i think and ive got pretty big hands so that dosen't really help :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭christophicus

The razor is bad for big hands?

    The G5 :D

true....did u find it was too light aswell, also i think it depends on the mousemat you have. I was using it on a icemat and it felt so much lighter coz it just slid across the mat other than a different mat like Ailsop or something

The Logitech G5 Laser Mouse gets my vote without question.

I got this a few weeks ago, it's dead accurate, 100% reliable and it has pulverised everything I've ever used before and improved my gameplay by about 50% over rollerball mice (I can't use optical). It's got a weight cartridge pack setup so you can make it fine tune the weight, I have the 4.5g weights at the bottom and lighter ones a level up so that it sort of emulates the rollerballs I'm used to.

In short it kicks ass. And I'm not the only one who thinks so.

have to admit the choices you have in the poll are dire...

what is the best gaming mouse i hear you say?

well the sad truth is there isn't one because if there was everyone who was a gamer would use it. the best mouse is all about opinion and whose opinion it is.

what makes a good mouse is very user dependent. for me a good mouse needs to be small, light, 4 buttons max, no ****e drivers and have ambidextrous capabilities. that's why i use a Microsoft 1.1SE optical mouse. it fits all the above critiera and has served me well.

my second choice would be the Microsoft v3.0 optical mouse, the old versions of these were great and had all the features i looked for in a mouse except the ambidextrous quality. the newer v3.0 is meant to be just as good if not better than the old mouse.

what annoys me most about other mice is having buttons everywhere, seriously buttons on mice are used for lightning quick responses and to me there's only 4 max responses i need on a mouse not 20 (slight exageration).

also i still wouldn't trust a wireless mouse, now most people will say they have no latency issues anymore but if my mouse isn't broke i ain't going to fix it. also i don't like the idea of having to charge my mouse everytime the batteries go dead i also got a feeling the response time of the mouse will deteriorate as the batteries go low.

THe choices in the poll are dire??? they are the cream of the crop from the top two mouse manufacturers.

is teh ability to add and remove teh weight in the G5 actually very usefull?

YEah I was thinking it was just a kind of gimmicky thing.

At the moment I am leaning towards the logitech G7. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,277 ✭✭✭SeanW

Well, it's not really gimmicky it's just some may find it more useful than others. I found it to be quite nice, epsecially since I'm used to relatively heavy mice such as rollerballs.

The G7 might be good but it's wireless and that's not necessarily a good thing - you've got to deal with batteries and all the rest of it making the whole idea more hassle than its worth IMO. What's more the wire on the G5 is also very easy to manage, a light, flexible, strong fiber based cable verus the rubber/plastic of most mice.

if a wire bothers you that much get a func1030 mouse pad/everglide bungee or if you're on a budge some selotape and tape the cord to the desk leaving enough slack.

I've got the Microsoft Habu (Which is a rebadger Razer), it's a sweet sweet package. 2000 Dpi, internal memory, 5 buttons, scroll wheel, and 2 buttons for modifying Dpi on the fly. It's got a rail all around which is backlight in blue, as is the scroll wheel, two trigger buttons on the side, and if you don't like those, you can whip them out and stick in the replacement set which are in a different position - they're supplied with the mouse, along with replacement teflon pads. Next to the blue backlight of the Logitech G15 Keyboard, they almost look like a match together.

i didnt vote because i couldnt choose between the g5 and copperhead.
after using both i think their equally good.

the copperhead is pretty light, small enough, two side buttons on either side and the mouse wheel is nice.

the g5 is bigger, lighter without the weights but can be made very heavy with them, only one side button although the mouse wheel has left and right scroll which i found very handy, but the mouse3 button takes a while to get used to due to the side scroll feature. oh and its only for right handed people, so its not the lefties choice.

i honestly cant choose between them.

the G7 is a DIRE gaming mouse, and i know about 5 people atleast, who will say that. it decides to randomly not work at times, and the side buttons dont work at times.(according to people)

Didn't hear of any issues with the G7. Know one guy who just got one and he's delighted with it. Thinking about getting one of them for myself.
Anyway I'd go for one of the Logitech ones.
I have the G5 and the Copperhead mouse and the G5 is better by miles. Within an hour of playing my wrist was killing me so I went back to the G5. Gave the copperhead to my brother who also complained of wrist pains with this mouse. Now he had huge hands so maybe that's a factor but mine are way smaller than his and I still had the same problem.
If you google around for reviews you'll see that nearly of the reviewers plumb for the G5 because of the comfort level..all of the buttons are easily accessible while the copperhead's buttons on the right hand side are next to impossible to press..

The copperhead also has weights, but you have to buy them seperatly in the pro-kit clocks in around 15 euro you get the weights tools and extra teflan.

i use a copper head with a 4s pad, ive never had any trouble with it, the changeable DPI is great and has 5 settings you can pre-set yourself. its ambidextrous too.

im not a fan of logitech mice as they are usualy right handed only, are huge and uncomfortable (to me) also i wouldnt touch a wireless mouse for gaming i just dont trust the batteries or response times no matter what the blurb says.
