how to make a dvd?

Hi all, I recorded a friends wedding recently on my camcorder, uploaded it onto my pc where its saved as a Windows Media Audio/Video file. I copied this onto a blank dvd but it won't play on a dvd player. Do I need to convert the file first and if so how do I do it? Any help appreciated thanks in advance

You can convert to DVD using the latest version of Nero. I'm sure there are probably some freeware programs out there, check download.com.
