AHCI vs IDE Emulation for SATA

    If IDE Emulation is used (in the bios) as opposed to AHCI mode (which requires pre-install drivers or the mobo/windows wont see the sata drives AFAIK) is there much of a performance hit if any?

    shouldnt be any really. Modern drives havent even maxed out good old ATA100 yet!

    Extra bells and whistles like NCQ are only supported under AHCI, apparently.
