I have about 140 in front of me and villain has me covered. He sat down about two hands previously and instantly raised pot, got reraised and he again repotted for all his chips and showed AA.

Villain makes it ten in MP, two callers (inc button) and I also call in the SB with 99. Flop K10x. Villain bets 35, other two fold (button took a bit of time before folding) and I stuck it all in ?

    Thoughts ?

With absolutely no info on this guy other than he raises with aces, I am not sure I like this move tbh. If it got through, good, if not I'm not surprised.

As dom says we don't know enough about villain here to try this.

How I earn my crust in the fitz is not doing exactly this.

There's no need to get fancy in the fitz IMO.

There's very few players in there that can lay down any sort of pair never mind top pair.

    I don't like it.

After having my fingers rapped already for not being agreeable enough, I'll have to keep my thoughts to myself on this one. Don't want to get banned.
Instead I'll ask you a question, what hand(s) do you think your opponent would put you on ?

most players in the fitz see two cards.

    Their own.

Ok, have to go to the bookies and lose some money on jockser at cheltenham, so I'll give my thoughts.

Firstly I know I played the hand very badly and expected all those replies however I am capable of laying down a hand postflop as I did many times that night.

Anyway, the only thing I noticed was that the villain had gone "pot", "pot" in the previous hand with the AA. This time however he said a specific amount (35) when it would have been just as easy to bet pot (roughly 42). I just had a feeling it was an oversized continuation bet. If the button had called (he dwelled for a while so I thought big 10) I would have mucked but I had a feeling villain was at it so pushed. He called like a shot :o

Turn Q, river A (could it get much worse on the board). I showed 99 and he mucked  He told me he had 88.

Thank jesus I didn't post the other hand from that night :D

This is pretty specific 'you have to be there' information, and to be honest I don't see the value of posting a mad hand when you think you have some sort of a read, but don't inform us of this read, even if it is only 2 hands in to the game.

I honestly thought I had, I specifically said he potted the first hand, and then repotted it and bet 35 in the next.

I know it says that, but the fact that you says he potted, then repotted and then bet 35 (when pot was 40ish) wasn't stressed, even though that would have been selling the punchline somewhat I guess, but I would be wary in general of picking up a 'tell' after 2 hands.

totally agree with that, I suppose the main point of the thread was whether or not you can push players off a pot with that type of bet and it was answered fairly emphatically. And racingsilver was right, what hand would he need to put me on to fold ?
