Pupil Dilation and Brightness

    So, hypothetically of course, if I had taken something that made my pupils go really wide, why isn't everything brighter?

    The iris controls the amount of light entering the eye, wider means brighter, more closed means darker... So why would I (hypothetically) not be seeing the world as really damn bright if my pupils were stuck wide open?

    How do you know you wouldn't see anything brighter with wide open pupils?
