Xmas has come early for me. lol. Its kinda funny because I had no intention of buying any new gear but this stuff came up at the right price and I figured I'd regret not picking them up while I had the chance. Gonna pick up a nice new strat or tele after xmas as well to finish it off

That was the first thing I picked up. Roland JC120. Really nice amp. Prob my fave amp so far (for many reasons. Very versatile amp)

    Next up:

    Whats this?? A G-Major?

    Nope:

Yup a nice Boss GT-8. Been thinking of getting one of these for ages. Finally one came up at a nice price. Also got this instructional dvd with it: http://www.bossgtcentral.com/dvd8.php

Cant play it though until xmas because its a gift. Really looking forward to hearing how it sounds with the JC120 because my other effects are much nicer through my jc120 than any other amp I've had. Also noticed that whenever Boss are demonstrating the GT8 (NAMM etc) they always play it through one or two JC120's. Seems they are a perfect match

All in all, I'm finally happy with my gear (almost). Just got to sort out my new guitar and I think I'll be free from any serious GAS for a long long time

    :D

GT-8 sounds incredible, especially through headphones! Good call :)

Thanks. Just been going through bossgtcentral.com for the last two hours and man I really wanna play this thing :( Really like how you can download lots of pre made patches to nail certain artists/songs/sounds etc. Cant wait to load up some Pink Floyd patches and see how they compare to the Big Muff plugged straight into the JC120

So who else on here has a GT8?

Don't have a GT8, but I have the Pod XT Live, which is basically the same kinda thing, and you can download patches for the Pod, which is very handy. I'm sure you'll have absolutely loads of fun, I spent about 6 hours creating patches and tweaking on the Pod the other night. The variety of sounds you can get out of it is incredible, so I'm sure it's the same with the GT8.

    Enjoy yourself. ;)

I have played my GT8 setup through numerous amps (classic Silvertones, Mesa Dual Rectifier, Marshall AVT150, Roland KC-550, Fender bass amps, SWR bass amps, Ampeg bass amps, PA systems, headphones and hifi stereo systems) before i landed (by chance) on the amp i never thought i would like, and let me tell you that my solid state Roland Jazz Chorus 120 is the way to go. It is the only amp i can go to from headphones and still have the same sound i was hearing on the headphones. The tube amps always seemed to emphasize how digital the GT8 sounded. the only thing that has been even close besides the JC120 was the ampeg solid state bass amp my friend had

This sounds good. Seems the sound through headphones are similar what you'd hear through the JC120................ how many days til xmas? :(

Feckin torturing myself looking at it here. lol

Ive the GT-8 also. Takes quite a bit of time to customise for the first time I found. Worth it in the end though.

I've the GT-Pro (More or less the same as the 8), and it's a great bit of Kit. Well wear with your new toys!

Me GT-6. :( Poo. Just bought the GT-6 when the 8 was announced. Oh well. Boss developed the GT-6 with the JC-120 in mind. It has a special output setting for it ie <output select>combo/stack/headphones/desk/JC-120
I always leave mine on headphones. I can only assume the 8 is the same. Wouldn't mind an 8 but after all the effort of programming the 6 I can't be arsed. Think I'll just get a second amp and make use of the stereo outputs. Anyone got a Marshall VS102r lying about?!

Yeah the GT8 has a JC120 and JC120 return setting

What are the main differences between the gt6 and gt8?

"Dual COSM Amp engine allows two different amp types to be assigned to the two channels
Amp channels can be switched, layered, or panned in real-time; Dynamic mode allows channel switching by picking dynamics
200 stunning preset patches and 140 user patches; 44 effects categories, up to 13 simultaneous FX blocks
Solo Switch on the COSM amp section for instant lead tone
Amp Control jack for switching external guitar amp channels
24-bit converters and coaxial digital output for high-resolution recording applications"

These are the main differences from the Boss website

It's stuff like the external amp switching and solo switch I like. And the added effects sitar, sound hold, extra amp and distortion models.
