Tax Relief - trade union subs

I'm looking on the revenue website and it says you can claim tax relief on trade union subscriptions.

Does anyone know if this means I can claim back from 2005? Do I need reciepts or would a copy of a bank statement with the direct debit shown on it suffice?

Any advice from someone who's done it? - cheers :)

I don't think you can claim back for 2005. It's only a €60 tax credit anyway. You can apply for the trade union credit if you register with www.reachservices.ie or alternatively call them on that totally frustrating 1850 number. You may as well apply for it becuase it's €60 that the tax man is not going to get..

Yeah, I plan on giving them an email or a ring anyway - but hoped someone might have experience with it before I go searching.

I seem to be on some sort of tax back marathon lately :D

    Cheers lads.
