NTL digital and analogue signal

    Hi,
I've got NTL digital at home.
Everything works fine but I would like to connect a VCR to record programs.
Do you know if NTL basic package channels are also broadcasted by analogue signal on the same TV cable?
If this was the case, I could use a cable splitter to record "regular" channels (analogue), while watching a program coming out from the NTL set top box.
    Thanks!

Antenna, does this mean that NTL has to physically change a connection each time a subscriber subscribes to the digital service?
I live in an apartment block, how does NTL manage to offer different services across apartments within the same building?

With that box you don't need any type of splitter.
On the rear of the box you'll see "cable in"+"cable out". The lead from cable out should go into cable(rf) in on your vcr and then cable(rf) out on the vcr goes into your TV.This will let you record analogue on the vcr. If you want to record digital on the vcr you'll need one of the scart outputs on the STB going towards the VCR. NTL site used to have a diagram on it but since the change on the homepage I can't find it.

Both analouge and digital signal come in on the same cable. Without the stb you can't get a digital service. The only thing NTL do when someone subcribes to digital is to install a STB.

I have just connected the RF input of my TV straight into the TV cable wall socket (I disconnected the NTL set top box from the wall), and did a complete scan using my TV tuner.
Just snow all over, no analogue signal at all...
    Am I missing something?

Well if the stb is getting a signal from the same cable and your TV isn't showing anything it looks like there could be something up with your TV set.:(

Is it MMDS, do you have an arial on the house for it?

Does your TV only do UHF, or VHF & Hyperband?

I don't know if the signal is received via MMDS. It's possible I guess...

MMDS means you have an aerial, cable means you have a er cable.

But the MMDS comes into to the house on a Cable. MMDS has a mesh dish on roof smaller than a Sky dish with bigger holes.

MMDS needs a power injector on the Coax (12V or 14V etc) either from the set box or a separate plug top power supply.

Well, I live in an apartment block, so it is possible that there is an MMDS antenna on the roof and that the signal is distributed across all apartments via cable. I'll investigate and let you know.

Just check the Channel line up and see which matches your digital sub.
Looking at the list the mmds packs have different names then the cable packs. These should also be on your bill.

Yes, it's pretty obvious now from the channel line up that we are using MMDS...
So I guess this means that I have no analogue signal?... :-(

Yep. There never will be either.

The larger ex-Chorus area do have Analogue, but it is poor and means half as much Digital. It will be converted to be same as the all Digital ex-NTL MMDS.
