I've given up my job to go back to college full time to do a Ph.D. Academia pays very little and to be honest I could do with a an few extra quid a month.

Irish male, age 28, B.Sc. in Computer Science, Living in Dublin city. 10 years experience in I.T. including 5 1/2 as a Head Network & Systems Admin for a large Irish company. I have my own transport.

Although my experience is in IT I'm open to any suggestions. I'm not really that fussy.

Deliveries!! Pizza... chinese, all the usual suspects. If you need the money fast then its usuall a good solution as there are quite a few delivery jobs out there at all times. Pay isnt great as you are sometimes dependant on tips however if you put an evening or two into it a week then you could easily hit your €300 a month target.

I realise you have quite a bit of experience however a delivery job like this is the first I thought of that would allow you the flexibility to almost work when you want depending on the place. Usually the smaller almost independant take aways would pay better than the larger ones (see similar thread in this section)

Having never actually done deliveries before I am of course going off the experience of my mates who are currently doing it, though they can come away with ~€50 of profit from an evenings work (5 or 6pm til close)

Delivery is something I've thought about. How safe is it generally according to your friends?

Realistically I want to get payed cash in hand. Transport is a car and a bicycle..

You could try to sell stuff on ebay. Friend makes about 200 sterling a week doing it. But he spends a lot of time on it (He's a student so has time).

Basically just buys stuff and resells it. He does it in a somewhat unethical manner. I.e he will go back on an auction if he cant sell it for a higher price.

The eBay idea is something I'd have to research a bit.

Could you do grinds at second/third level combined with tutorials in college? Generic Arts subjects in UCC paid 20 an hour for tutorials at 3 a week (iirc) which would pull you up nice and close to the mark, unless you were already counting them in or they are in lieu of fees through that government scheme.

Thought about working part time in a net cafe? Boring job but you could pick up 300 a month easy and the work isn't exactly difficult.

My friends currently do it in the Lucan/Palmerstown area and do walk away with the cash from the evenings work there and then.

Have not heard of the work being unsafe in anyway from either of them.

I am pretty sure the company I work for would be interested in some out of hours systems work. You would need to be pretty skilled at Linux and networking. If you are interested PM me
