Can anybody confirm this? Apparently the Euro VC emulated SNES, NES etc. games are 50Hz versions with the black borders and unbearably slow gameplay. True?

I've read that on a few sites. The n64 games seem to be 60hz tho. And unbearably slow might be pushing it, we did play them back in the day no problem after all :)

That's what all the reports are saying.

Looks like Virtual Console is going to be a big Joke. 2006/7 you'd think they would have at least given us the 60hz ones

Nintendo screws europe, wow there's somthing new. :o

It's for that authentic nostalgic experience. Same goes for Nintendo shafting Europe.

Is there any confirmation that N64 games will run in 60Hz? I had the foresight to, er, "back up" all the SNES and Mega Drive games I'll need.

Well If they are only 50Hz butchered versions I'll porbably have to resort to the homebrew route. They should at least give a choice.

They probably mistook Mario 64 for the NTSC version since it's almost fullscreen PAL. They used the later Mario 64 PAL release apparently, which was PAL optimised over the launch version.

I've read that you can change your Wii's region setting to download US games though, so they should be 60Hz roms. Can any Wii owners confirm this?

Edit: That last bit is wrong. You can change the region to other PAL regions like Australia. That's still 50Hz. The upshot: The PAL region Wii Virtual Console is useless.

I was chatting to a friend who managed to pick one up today.

He's downloaded Sonic & Mario 64, which cost him 1800 points (nearly €27) and he says both have the 1" borders top and bottom :(

wii euro virtual console is ****.

Why they couldnt have built in an option to stretch the image at least so we can see it in its correct ratio ?

    nintendo ****ting on europeans.
