Best place to buy LCD tv in Jan sales

My new apartment will be built next summer and I want to pimp out my crib. Want to buy two 32 inch LCD tvs, one for the sitting room and one for my room. Just wondering where would be the best place to get a good deal in the January sales? Or should I wait till the summer as they might go down in price even further? My budget would be €800-€1k per tv.

    Cheers

Well are you looking for "Bricks and Mortar" shops or online e-tailers?

Both really. Whoever has the best deals! :)

Online shops would normally be able to beat retail shops all the time - but you never can tell sometimes.

    Check out Komplett.ie, Richersounds.ie and katronics.de

If you want to haggle in person then go to power city or peats perhaps.

Best of luck and keep us posted

"Stay away from Katronics" is the message I get from boards. Do a search and you'll find some horror stories.

    Here's one: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054935722&referrerid=&highlight=katronics

Check out Currys' offer for the Sharp LC-32GD8E - now going for less than EUR1000.

I'd wait till closer to the time when you want to buy, if by the summer you mean june/july that's 6 months away and anything you buy in january will surely be cheaper in the summer. i'd also say that a 26 inch could be big enough for your bedroom, 32 is a pretty big TV especially for a bedroom.
I got mind from Pixmania.com and have had no trouble with it, it's a samsung. but other people on boards will tell you of horror stories with pixmania.

Cheers lads for all the input, appreciate it! I like the look of the Komplett site so I'll probably hold off till the summer as there will be more choice and cheaper prices!

    1 of Pigsback's partners are www.lcdtv.ie
I don't know anything about them so maybe someone else can offer feedback on them but they sound good.

    The offer through pigsback is:
    • 5 PiggyPoints per €1 spent
    • €20 cash back once you spend €1,500 or more
    • Free delivery
    • The lowest prices in Ireland – guaranteed

    True. I just bought a Sony 32V2000 for €1449 @ Komplett; it's €1769 @ lcdtv, €320 or a whopping 22% dearer.......

Had a quick browse and looks like your right PIMPHO and Komplett seem to have a much larger selection.
Seems to me though that TV manufacturers bring out different versions of the same models with an extra 'x' or whatever added in so stockists don't have the exact same models.

    lcdtv.ie state:
"We also guarantee that our prices are the lowest of any TV retailer in Ireland, this is backed up by our price promise, which is if you find any of the products listed on our site cheaper anywhere in Ireland send the link to pricepromise@lcdtv.ie or fax an official quote complete with manufacturers name, model number to 01 6589434 and we will match the price. This plus our free delivery policy means that we will definitely be cheaper than the rest of the competition. We are very happy to do this as it helps us keep ahead of the rest."

"We try to keep our catalogue as up to date as possible with all the latest models available from our array of manufacturers, but if there is any model that you do not see in our catalogue please feel free to drop a line to info@lcdtv.ie and we will get back to you with prices and availability asap. We will then upload the model on to www.lcdtv.ie for you to purchase as normal."

Maybe I'll test them on that when I get around to splashing out

I recently got a Samsung r71 32" tv off Pixmania.com for just under €1000 delivered. Didnt have any problems with them.

In the three weeks since i got it, it has dropped €50 in price on the site. I would recommend them and i think some of their prices are cheaper than komplett.

Yep, B&M shops tend to have greater reductions in jan. such as 30% off, but the TV is usually 50% overpriced anyway!, tesco were giving 25% points back on TVs on 2 occassions recently, wonder if it would happen during a good sale?, but tesco do not stock high end stuff.

I'd wait til the summer sales in July - LCD TV's are dropping all the time. Last June factory prices started to drop dramatically and these drops are being seen at retail now. - Next January (next month), the factories will again change pricing (change every quarter) and these reductions will reach retail in May / June.

Personally I expect the 32" to be about €500 - €600 for unbranded or about €700 for the likes of Phillips etc.

You're probably right Mcaul, will resist temptation till the summer and then treat myself to a pair of quality LCD tvs for my new crib! Ooohhh can't wait!

    Cheers lads!
