Hi was in the store this morning and i seen 2 consoles sold, one to a staff member and another to who i assume was a staff members friend!

There was no secrecy about it either! handed it out over the counter. When i asked if i could get one, i was told no, even though i had it pre oredered!

Report them, If I were you I would in a heartbeat.
Idiots, although I may be getting mine in Xtra Vision today also so SHHHH!!!!
(Wait, does Xtra Vision not open at 12.00pm?)

Doesn't sound like a true break then, just some nepotism (but with friends).

Why report them? You're getting one off a friend are you not?

no no, xtra vision opens at 10am not 12

    Mine opens at 12....:(

And smellyirishman, I was just referring to the way they practically said piss off to him.Is that not in bad spirit?

Somewhat, but he would probably get fired if he started handing them out to just anybody (or at least it increases the risk, and there is no gain for him).

yeah its cool though, no big deal, i can wait till tomorrow! and he wasnt rude or anything, sorry if that came across, he just wouldnt sell it!

But i gotta start making friends with people who work in entertainment stores

without trying to cause offence, but the staff (some of) there in Rathmines are muppets, and ignorant also!

Ahh no worries on this occasion nobody should be mad.....unless left without a Wii.

Oh-Oh! I have mine prebooked there and i was told that I'd defo be getting one! Considering that there might only be 2/3 per store that has me worried now

If they didn't pre-order theirs, then he's taking stock that could be meant for customers that pre-ordered months ago. That is not cool.

I booked mine there way back at the end of October/start of November.
I went back in last week to confirm that my preorder was ok etc.
They told me that everything was cool and that they would ring me Friday morning!

I will tear the place down if i get some Bulls**t excuse.

I will tear the place down if i get some Bulls**t excuse.

Then bring your pickaxe and sledgehammer.......
I have a gut feeling a lot of the people who pre-booked in XV will have to wait longer than tomorrow.....

Well, I'm staff and I'm not allowed take my console home until every other customers prebook has been filled.

So none for me until next friday.

Can they actually (legally) do this???

No they can't. I think Saturday or Sunday is the latest they have to keep the console.

wow, xtra-vision rathmines should be in some serious trouble if everything in this thread is true. i can't take (or even look at) a wii until there's enough stock to satisfy pre-orders, and we keep pre-orders for a week (in my store anyway)

I'm also surprised Xtravision management didn't instruct the staff on what the companay's contract is with Nintendo, breaking this as has been mentioned both in this and another thread can lead to a fine but more damaging for a large chain the difficulty in getting more supply when there's a shortage. This could also lead to difficulties being part of the PS3 launch if Sony see them as less well managed than other chains. Pity.

well thats fair enough, i wouldnt want staff to get into trouble for selling them, il just wait (and hope) for one tomorrow :)

ah I wouldn't worry too much about them, it'll just be a lesson about the contactual embargo on sales that their employer entered into, both for Xtravision and Argos Liffey Valley staff, best of luck to all those heading in to the official launches in town, hope the weather holds for yiz.

My brother works in Smyths. He says they were unpacking them before midnight and he was getting one. I'm not surprised shops are doing this.

Is anybody surprised by this? Most consoles on launch day go to friends
and relatives of people in games distribution and games high st retailers.
Only issue is how thick they were by not been more discreet

I know someone who works in a certain Smyths that took their wii home on tuesday night. I think I'll just wait until after xmas to pick one up now. Weather is too bad to be waiting outside a store hours before it opens to maybe pick up one of two or three consoles which arent prebooked
