I am confused as what to do.I have taken the day off college to ring up various places. Its getting ridiculous,i would steal a preorder slip off a child at this stage.Just wondering is anyone else in this position.Gamestop Henry street told me on Tuesday that coming in thursday midnight should be ok,i rang up about an hour ago...they only have enough for preorders he said.God i'm such a fool...any suggestions?

As far as I know GAME at least are only selling preodered ones at midnight, you might be better off waiting till sunday morning to collect the no-shows wiis...

i never thought of that...i mean surely not EVERYONE would pick theirs up on time.hmmm...i was thinking like one of those stupid stores like Currys or Dixons.I remember when Ocarina of Time came out,i was like young.and my dad went everywhere, and he got it in Currys.God i hate not knowing i'm getting one.

My sister had a Wii pre-ordered at Currys in Cork, she got a call from them today saying that they won't be getting and Wii's now, so pre-order is useless.

She also had a pre-order in HMV Cork, called her also and said that they won't have enough for her.

i am still considering going into town and just ya know checking all the stores that open at midnight (ie gamestop and game) i'm probably just naive, but i still kinda think that they will have them..:( <
my face in 11 hours time.

Hmm.... not the best weather today! Me and my friends all have our pre-orders confirmed but we're still going to do a run to tesco 24 hour at midnight just in case any go on sale there. If they do, there will be a few left unclaimed at half 7 tomorrow morning which will be great for the sunday morning scrambles.;)

yeah i'm totally gonna check out Tesco at midnight as well..i couldn't be bothered ringing them..cause lets be honest...the staff probably don't have a clue, and i'm getting sick of the conversation
Me: Hi i was just wondering if you's have any Nintendo Wii's on sale
    Shop: NO!
    Me: *sigh

just out of curiosity..has anyone ACTUALLY contacted Tesco to see if they will be selling them...?my nearest one is in Clarehall...i think..unless there is a closer one to portmarnock.sooooo..anyone actually rang them?

24 hour Tesco might be worth a shot. Do they normally sell consoles ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22 lemonfighter

for some reason..i don't know why..i just don't see them having them...i'm being so close-minded here..but the tesco in clarehall..just doesn't seem like it would actually bother especially at midnight on a thursday..hopefully i have underestimated them.

Best of luck with it anyway. You'll enjoy it all the more when you finally get your hands on one.

Same here, passed it at lunch. Maybe it was just people standing around. There is a coffee shop or something beside it

I know if I'd have made the effort to line up in this weather from first thing this morning that I would also have made the effort to dress up as Princess Zelda for the occasion.

If you were willing to que up from now to get one you were probably also willing to slap a pre-order down 2 months and not need to.

This is not true, I've been around the area all day.

Anyone know what the situation is there at the moment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 746 ✭✭✭whitetrash

Probably the same, I walk by it on my way home so I'll see then. I'm not planning on going down there till about 11:45. I have my preorder ticket, don't see any reason to queue up. Plus the GAME guy who rang me specifically asked me if I was going tonight to put my name down and I said yeah.

If I see anything on the way home I'll post about it.

I'm going to the midnight launch on Dawson St. with two friends tonight. None of us have pre-orders but we figure there might be free t-shirts, a demo-pod or at least a cool DS wireless match to hook-up to. Then it's back to my house, stay up all night and podcast. Then I'll get my pre-order in Smyths at 9 a.m., back to my house again to play some cottonpicking Wii.

i just rang them up..he said there was about 4-5 people outside...so should be ok...
we'll see what its like soon.

Tesco in Ashbourne said they won't be doing them, ring ClearWater. ClearWater won't have any until after Christmas.

I'm just glad I pre-ordered mine back on September 29th. I knew the demand was gonna be massive!!! So I'm working nights at the minute, so when I finish at 7:30am it's straight to the Square Tallaght for me! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,362 ✭✭✭tw0nk

I think Gamestop on Liffey St are doing a midnight launch.
Smyths open at 8 in the morning, safer and warmer option :)
