Could I have folded?

Live 1-2 cash game, my stack 430, villan has me covered. I straddle for 4, next person for 8, raised to 30 from mid pos, 4 callers, I call with Ac9c.

    Flop Qc6c3x
    Checked around

    Turn 8c
I check, Player bets 75, Villan calls, 2 folds, I make it 200 villan dwells up and calls.

River is another 8, I check, villan puts me all in for 200.

Villan is good player I was sure he would only bet there with a house. But as I went through the hand I decided he would defidently bet the flop with a set, the only other hand he could have had was pocket 8's.

Should i even be considering folding the nut flush getting 4 to 1? even though I was nearly sure he had a house. Or is one of those times where he just has to get paid off?

    Villan had
    6 8

    yes

    pre-flop

just because 4 other fools called the €30 doesn't mean you have to

I'm folding this preflop also. As played I call, Very poor play by the villain in this hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

Yeah fold preflop. As it is I lead turn and get it all in there.

I know i shouldnt have called prefolp but i'm probally ahead, am getting 4 to 1, and if a ace hits i'm probally good and will get paid big if I hit 2 pair or more.

sorry Duff Man, your reasoning is off the wall unless this is the worst game ever (in which case where is it?)

and the guy with 86 is not a good player btw...

This sounds alot like the Sporting Aquarium recently.

Turkish guy Murat "POT", "BET", "RAISE", "I call seven hundre fify youos last night for one card - I hit and win pot" and after you call his bluff and while he is insta mucking his cards "GOOD CALL".

Add in The Chief - "Call yeah, yeah, call"

Some guy called Steven (Scotish Origin) - who will call pot sized bets on flop and the turn in order to catch his draw - "Its very hard to lay them down" apparently...

Syrian Paul - "Hello my friend - ok lets gambol", "Ah Rocky - he only playz the nutz, welcome to the game my friend, I call"

Mick the Lip - "Oil call ya, oive loive cards", "Im behind but il call, il gamble, if your not in you cant win", As was excellently relayed by somebody here a couple of weeks ago, you Jam it in with Aces Preflop and he calls, on the flop "Youur ahead", on the turn "Youuur still ahead", the river comes a 3 and he turns over 73 os for two pair whilst saying "Oi have ya, youuuuuur behind"

didn't he have a run-in with 'da management' of the cardroom? seem to remember reading something about it on his blog

EVERY NL game outside Dublin plays like this. 95%+ of the players have no concept of odds, etc. A common play I see is that a guy calls a big raise preflop with a low pair, misses completely, but then calls an all-in on the flop simply because the pot is now big. So the basic gamble is to take an 11/1 shot getting <2/1 pot odds. It's sick at times.

You guys should go ona road trip. Playing against 9 boardsters in Oscars game is crazy when there are such profitable games an hour down the M4.

are you up for it NTL? (not that I've ever met you or anything)

I can't understand people giving out about other people who play badly. Alright they will get you once in a while but 90% of the time you will take their money in a one to one if you play tight. I get nervous when I have to play against a pair on the table and I also agree the villian played poorly. Your short stack did not help either as it commited you to the pot. Also remember he had a better hand than you post flop. Sure you had a good out with the flush chance but so what.

Farmer 2: He got a purdy mowath

Lol. That was hilarious. Mick the lip is bordering on comedic genius these days. I nearly wet myself last night when he started going on about live cards. He had J3o on a QT3 board and check raised all-in. Starts going on about how he had a straight draw. LOL. Looks straight at you - "I know I'm behind, I have outs though" or "I know I'm behind but i have a nice doggin' hand". I was trying to not to implode I was laughing so hard at him.

yeah back on topic....that'd be a first

I'm getting interested in this cunning plan of playing poker outside Dublin

how much to hire a winnebago for say 3 months?

what are the fishiest poker games outside Dublin?
(I've been assured that the Galway races is as fishy as it gets)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

Oh yes ahem.... could you have folded?

Yes preflop, potentially on the River. To be fair you should have jammed it in on the turn tho if he is as good a player as you say he may well have called you..
