I've recently replace my old Comag SL 55 with a Technomate 1000D+ Super.

I'm confused as to the benefits or otherwise of the RF loopthrough on the Technomate. As far as I can see, all it allows me to do is to select the tv input using the Technomate's remote (by pressing TV/SAT button). I cannot change which tv channel I am viewing (as with a Sky remote), I have to use the tv remote for that, so why bother???

(I understand that I can also select which UHF channel the box outputs its signal to, but again, why have a dedicated button on the remote to do this- why not just leave it in the set-up menu??).

Am I completely missing the point???????????????

an Rf loopthrough allows you to daisychain other rf devices like a vcr and then combiine this with the satellite rf output to feed to another tv or amplifier to feed several tv's

Thanks Tony. So if I understand it correctly,,,,,,,

    1. I can send the satellite signal on to another device as an RF output through standard co-axial cabling.

    2. If it’s going to a TV in another room, for example, I will be able to change TV (aerial) channel as usual, but will only be able to view whichever sat channel is being output by the box to RF.

    3. The option to select which UHF channel the sat signal is output to as RF means I can avoid sending it on the same frequency as an existing TV channel.

Sorry for looking for the Ladybird version of this- I just want to understand it thoroughly.

    Thanks lads.

A former colleague always used the term "Ladybird Guide" when he wanted a simple version of a complex document produced for general consumption. Everyone always knew what he meant- just goes to show how ingrained these things we learn as children become.....
