Hi,

We currently have standard sky digital box and then sky plus in another room. We also have NTL in 3 other rooms, with just the basic free to air channels, we want to get rid of NTL and want to know how do we go about getting the basic free channels from Sky in the other 3 rooms.

I rang Sky and they said something about paying a once off fee for this, they gave me a number to ring but it doesnt work or else he said you could try to find a local person in Dublin to install them.....does anyone know who would do this?

I saw this company www.freetoair.ie yesterday while searching on the net. Have had no dealings with him but worth a try. Seems to be based in Swords.

Try Tony at www.satellite.ie
He is my recommendation.

You will need a quad LNB and 3 receivers.

"Freesat From Sky" is a UK only product.

You need a FTA satellite system, or simply buy Sky Digiboxes without a subscription. Either way you need to install the wires. Your current dish can only take one more receiver. You can have a Quattro LNB and Multiswith for up to 16 feeds or a 2nd dish with a Quad LNB.

There are also Octo LNBs (8) but these are hard to get hold of.

I recently installed a disk and pointed to Astra 2/Eurobird group of satellites (28.2º East). Had no major problem to get "locked" to Astra2 (yesterday I even tested on Eurobird1 as well) but when I tried to ADD CHANNEL and entered all required parameters for Frequency, Polarisation, Symbol Rate and FEC then "Find channel" showed me nothing (No channels found)

FYI, I have SKY+HD BOX with Both, "Signal strength" and "quality" are about 80-85%. I know I locked to the right satellite as I compared Network ID. Of course I did use different parameters to add channels for each satellite.

Could this be a problem with possibly outdated parameters to add FreeSat channels on those satellites?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

alrite, I got sorted. Few days ago I found Troubleshooting doc which's explaining basic problems and I only red it yesterday, so I RESET the device (later used option RE-BUILD as well) through ENGINEERING menu (Service-0-0-1-Select) once done the "no satellite found" message disappeared. With white SKY (expired) card I can watch about 200 channels (80% junk) and managed to ADD some FreeSat (BBC/ITV) channels, the HD ones had excelent quality.

Now I hope I can fix problem with RECording too, anyone any idea? Is there a way to record "any" channels (even non-Sky) on Sky+HD box ? I'd like to use the hard drive once I have it there 8-)

Nope .fraid not.. you can only record channels that are on the EPG (not "Other Channels0") and then only if you have an active Sky+ subscription.

You'll also be unable to watch your recordings if you later cancelled that subscription :(
