GAME Wii midnight launch

So a nice chap in GAME Dawson St. called me up to invite me to the GAME Midnight launch party tonight. I wonder if there will be alcohol and girls at this party :D

Of slightly more worrying concern is he asked me did I want any games put aside, but when I asked for Zelda he said it was very popular and he can't say if a copy will be available. Surely they would have got in a ton of Zelda since nearly everyone buying a Wii will want a copy of Zelda?

So who will be out tonight in the wind and the ran to get their new Wii?

    gamestop at midnight for me!

took the decision this week to buy a fancy new tv, the idiot in me is telling me not to set up my wii til it arrives. i reckon the tempation will overcome me with in .0895 seconds

I'll be there @ Dawson St. Trying to gauge what time it would be best to arrive at. I'm thinking once its pre-ordered (and confirmed!), there is no real reason to queue for hours. Just show when the store opens.

If I dont get Zelda, I'll be mightily dissapointed. :(

Never been to a launch before. How many people in Ireland actually turn up at midnight for these things?

Well that might be a reason to queue then!!

    I have no idea.

Could be a good many though considering the anticipation - may be a few chancers hoping to get a 1st come, 1st serve break. If we assume then that the first 100 pre-order folk come along to collect it tonight + those 1st chancers and other general folk show up, could be quite alot.

Realistically, I suspect only a slim majority will show this evening, the rest collecting their Wii tomorrow morning or such.

    Once I get my Zelda...

Indeed, however I have a party I need to attend this evening as well as the launch. I hope to depart from the party at 11 and then get to Dawson St. before 12. Had this not been the case, I'd have been there much earlier :D

must ring gamestop and check all is fine for my preorder, and that turning up at 12 is ok, don't fancy queing for ages if the weather stays like this

Ok, maybe I'm setting myself up for a ton of abuse but if it is pre ordered why go out in the middle of the night, it's pre ordered they'll hold it for you to call in tomorrow at a happier hour.

At the end of the day it's a games console it realy can wait.

Because its a bit of fun? There may be an interesting social element to it?

I'll be there (Dawson St), it's only 10 mins from my house. And the reason I'd go at midnight instead of waiting is that I have to work tomorrow so I want to get to play with it a bit instead of sitting around looking at it for 8 hours in work!

I have to wait untill 7am tomorrow down here.
Which is a good thing TBH, as I'm heading out tonight aswell, and if Game were openng at midnight I'd be there, and end up missing the party!
Plus, I've got no work tomorow, so straight from my mates gaff at 7, pick up the Wii, and then relax and enjoy the rest of the day!:D

I wonder will Zelda be as engrossing as Oblivion, which literaly tried to take over my life!

Well I'm sure launch parties are fun (never been to one so can't tell), the main reason I'm going along tonight is that I'm worried about not getting Zelda. Having a Wii over Christmas but no Zelda to play would be mighty annoying.

Also you never know what can happen with pre-orders. You think you are fine and then all of a sudden someone in GAME or GameSpot head office orders 50 consoles for a shop instead of a 150, and suddenly you are out of luck.

Also for a lot of people 12 midnight isn't that late. Why come back over the weekend when you can just as easily pop over after the pub or cinema. I would imagine the only people who can't do this are kids.

I also imagine there will be lots of hot single girls there, who love Nintendo :p

    I suppose it's a matter of perspective.
I owe a PS2, have done for two years and own less than 10 games, I'm not a gamer, if gaming is your thing than cool. I'll admit I am going out to my bro's to try his one out tomorrow, they do look like a laugh all right.

I didn't mean to seem rude, I was jsut curious.

    Best of luck with it....

I'm just glad I don't have to work a midnight launch tbh!
If there was a midnight launch though in Dundrum and I didn't have to work it I'd be there to get my Wii, of course :p

Working midnight launches rules! The atmosphere is always great. All the grown men and women acting like 8 year olds. I'm going to be chugging coffee tonight though beforehand. Sleepy....

Personally I just want to get in, get my stuff and get out (and then play it till I have to go to work at 9 :))

From a dedicated PC player good luck with all your Wii's folks. And remember at that Dawson Street midnight launch, that as little Johnny moves away from the shop with his happy little bundle, that scumbag Micka could be waiting in the corner to grab and run.

You have to work for the launch!!!!

I'd just be playing the Wii!

Well I may be pushing customers out the door so I can get home faster but I just like it. It's fun. Plus means I don't have to wait in the rain.

210 machines for Dawson St and only 72 for Blanch? That's pretty crappy considering we're the best store in the country :p

Well then im going to go in at 8. The weather is looking to be pretty crap even by Irish standards. Id say that 80% of the Zelda games are set aside for Pre-orders.

Don't suppose anyone knows how to grow a tail??

I seriously need to grow one, stick it between my legs and admit I was wrong. Having played my bro's last night I have not only seen the light but been stunningly blinded.

Not that I say it often but

    SUITABLY IMPRESSED
