    Hi.
I'm going to Madrid for three days before Christmas. I'm wondering if anyone has been there before and knows Madrid.
I'd appreciate any advice on the best clubs and restaurants, the best area to stay in, and any other must-sees. Also any good hotels? I don't mind paying a bit more than usual because I haven't gone on a holiday yet this year. Thanks.

you are in for one good time, madrid is excellent, i am a regular visitor.
for clubbing i would recommend joy, and 2 irish pubs called speakeasy and the irish rover , i dont know the street names i just know how to get to them:) , the irish rover is beside the picasso tower, for shopping go to madrid 2 (the largest shopping centre in europe, apparently) and the street Gran Via (madrids o' connell st.) make sure you visit the santiago barnabau (real madrids stadium, check out the trophey room), and if you are after quiet shopping hop on the airport metro line and jump off at Mar De Crystal. the shopping centre above the station is ace and has a huge carrefour where the prices are shockingly low.
oh and make sure you visit the Gran Casino De Madrid in Torrelodones, the do a buffet for a next to nothing and you can watch spains wealthy gamble thousands of euro at a time. but make sure if you go to the casino that you wear a suit, they are strict on attire. just to let you know as well that streets are called 'calle' in spain
i garauntee you will have a brilliant time, madrid is one excellent city
oh and visit retiro park ;)
