Tax Breaks after marriage

Got married recently, and just realised that I now fall into a different category as far as the Revenue Commissioner is concerned. Do I have to register this somewhere to avail of tax breaks or whatever, or does the fact that we registered with the State cover that?

I will gladly repay you with a hamburger on Tuesday for info today.

It will depend on your circumstances. You have the choice of continuing as you are or making a joint tax return.

If only one of you is working with a more than basic income, it is likely that you will be better off declaring jointly. If you both have incomes, it will depend on the types of incomes and needs closer looking at.

You only need to decide when doing your next tax return.
