    Does anyone know if it is possible to insure a car that you dont own ?

    Nope, you cant insure something you dont own

    so is it easy then to change the owner name on a car or have joint ownership ?

    You can get third-party only insurance on a car that doesn't belong to you.

    It's not possible to get fire & theft insurance on someone else's car. You *may* be able to get fully comp insurance, but you would only be covered for injuries to yourself, and not damage to the vehicle.
