    Hi All

W220 S320 (00) and the SRS light is now constantly on, I've been told it's the passenger seat bum pressure sensor that's the problem.

Any idea where or how to get it fixed (I believe it's quite cheap if ya do it yourself) rather than going to the stealerships at €100 an hour labour?

Common problem on the mercs. Child seat recognition pad fails due to people sitting on the passenger seat.

Very much doubt you could do it your self. Best off letting a pro do it. You have to remove the seat taking car of the airbags. Remove the seat covering material. fit new child seat recognition pad. reassemble. And then cancel the fault light which needs a computer with the right software and attachments. Which i doubt you have handy? The light won't automatically go out itself.

That all said it mightn't even be the problem. The SRS light is a general airbag warning light. Is your car due the brake recall that was done to alot of similar aged Mercs in the last year or so? (Not sure if the W220 was included)

ps Just to be aware that you more than likely don't have any airbags when this light is on

where are you living? Mr. Diagnostic on here in Sallins sorted my airbag light on my BMW a few weeks ago. He'll point you in the right direction

.........MY00/01 S Classes were not included in this !

I would take Lex's advice and also stay well away from the main stealers who most likley will start throwing parts at it with gay abandon !!

Have it booked in with stanley in alasta for Monday.

Need all this safety stuff I tell ya, white van driver last night pulls out from a side road in Irishtown last night, completely oblivious to me, slammed on the breaks, BAS & ABS kicked in, luckily there was nothing behind me, myself, the wife and my daughter were all pulled upright in our seats, it took the brake pedal off me (while buzzin the sh1t outta my foot) and stopped on a penny, I was shaking for an hour all he could do was wave and say sorry.

My father had the same issues with the Red SRS light on for 4 years in his E240. Nobody could fix it.. It was sent everywhere. Mind you.. it always passed the NCT. He paid fortunes to get it repaired and sorted but it always jsut came back on. He's had so many new parts put in, to no avail. Eventually he just lived with it. Sold it on there recently and we have been told that the new owner just got the Light on the dash taken out :) He's had a specialist diagnostics run on it I think by the same chap Lex mentioned above.. in Naas / sallins who is a good mate of his and has spent hours upon hours trying to sort it but pretty much gave up. James roe.. I believe is his name.

    Hj

Something is VERY WRONG with this post.

Firstly, I am the man that Lex mentioned above and I am NOT James Roe. I suspect i know the car in question because I got a phone call about it but i never looked at it. I did not, nor ever will, bypass a safety critical system such as SRS on any car unless it is to factory spec.
James is not a diagnostic man so is not equiped to bypass these systems. I also know that James is more professional than that.

I think this is a very serious matter and would suggest you get your facts straight before you post,

James Roe is in Naas alright, but I don't think I would have referred to him to anyone for a diagnostic check as I don't think he has the equipment.

I used to use him years ago but switched to Mr. D when I was referred to him by someone else
