    Howdy,
Sorry if this was covered before, the search appears to be down.

What should my line stats ideally be? Here's what they look like at the mo...
    Line State Up
    Modulation DMT
    Data Path Interleave

    Downstream Upstream
Max Allowed Speed (kbps) 2048 256
    SN Margin (dB) 11.50 17.00
    Line Attenuation (dB) 51.50 30.50
    CRC Errors 7 1

Anyone any pearls of wisdom for me? :)

if you are getting good speeds, then those stats are fine, the only thing is the line attenuation is a small bit on the high side. if you have sky boxes etc, try unplugging those from the phoneline, then reboot your modem and check again.

Also, unplug everything else which is plugged into the phoneline ( except the modem ) before rebooting.

    Speed, so far, are fine.

There's nothing on the line except the modem. Although its running on an extension box, not the actual eircom terminated socket so that could explain the slightly off numbers.

    Thanks for the info.

yup, if the extension line is dodgy it might, however one thing id highly advise you to check is this.

go to the eircom master socket, and ensure that the only wires connected from the socket are the middle 2 ( green and red normally ) one of the other wires, if connected will be a ring wire which will affect your line quite a bit. if you successfuly find and disconenct this, reboot the modem and check the stats again
