Getting Extensions????

Hi,
I have an essay due in on the 12th of January but after my exams next week I only have a week off during which I'll be working and then I’m off as a delegate to participate in a political forum in Berlin (26th of dec to 5th of jan). When I get back 2 days later I'm off skiing for the week, my essay is due while I'm away skiing (7th of jan to 15th).

Now I know I shouldn't be going away etc but that’s not where I need your help. How should I ask my lecturer and tutor about getting an extension???
I have already e-mailed both just asking for a quick meeting to explain my situation.

How should I approach it? Should I just say I'm going to Berlin as a political representative because the course is in the Politics department (History of Political Thought- -Garrett O'Boyle) and leave out the skiing bit??

Any suggestions ASAP people,

Oh and is lying as in changing the skiing dates with the political forum a good or bad idea do they usually check up on these things?

Explain it to them. Say that you won't have time to research it properly because you'll be away. If you're representing Trinity, say that to them.

Skiing is completely seperate, especially as you'll be missing lectures while you're on the slopes.

Could you try and get the essay done before Christmas? How many words is it and what's it on? Surely you could try and do some of the reading for it this week and next (even though your exams are on - you could still do something) and then maybe write it up when you're away at the political thing?

Prob better not to lie. Just in case.

Yep that’s true stargal, I have 3 of the books I need already out on loan and I've done loads in case the Lecturer say's no. I will be able to do it before I go it's just mainly I know if I didn't have these events planned I would be able to properly devote myself to the essay and do as well as I would have wished.

yo moorsey whats this about? what have i been missing out on in my non attendance at lectures?! whats the trip in aid of?

Well my tutor said it should be no problem, I'm meeting my lecturer on Monday, I 'll probably just tell him the truth!! Well I wont mention any dates unless he actually asks which he probably will, ohh well...benefit out ways the cost of rushing a crap essay!
Berlin for 1 week for free and then skiing in Italy can't beat it. Thanks guys.
