I'm looking to buy myself an acoustic I'm fairly ok on the guitar, mostly play the electric but am now considering buying an acoustic to practice on, I ve been looking on ebay but am warry about buying the wrong thing, I'm after something decent enough and nice to play without breaking the bank.

If your Dublin based, go to Waltons and check out the SX range. I've a beautiful SX dreadnaught in the house which was about 200 euro, plays and sounds better than anything I've played in the sub 500euro category, and I'd heard so many bad stories about SX guitars before it was bought. Tbh, you should stay away from eBay if you're in that kind of price range; you're better off trusting your own ear and decide what feels the best. Personally I'd stay away from Epiphones from example.

Yeah, some of those budget ranges can really surprise you. Another decent brand is Vintage. They're distributed by JHS.

Aria's in Misician Ink are good value.

But best value is from the online stores.
