Price of Ents events

Ok I have no experience in organising club events or anything but is it just me or are the Ents events really expensive for student events

    for example:

The Christmas Champagne Ball, It was on a Wednesday last in Sin, tickets were 6 Euro and we got a glass of champagne/red bull (which was pretty good,I'll give it to them). But the drinks deals were rediculous.....4 Euro for a pint of Becks!
I mean the event was on a Wednesday, surely if we were paying in they could have done a better deal on drinks.

What do the rest of you think, I am sure they put alot of work into it, but that night left me cash strapped.

So you've more of a problem with the price of booze instead of the events?

For most people, it is an integral facet of an event...

From what I know 'Sin' is the most expensive or second most expensive venue to rent out in Dublin ring of cool clubs. This may have something to do with the high costs....

4e for a pint in a nightclub in town?

    Eh..thats good.

I'd concur, 4e for a pint in a nightclub is very good. Now wouldn't touch of becks myself but you hardly thought they'd do it for every beer?

Sin is also a terrible place, it should be banned for college events.

Becks is quite simply the best non-speciality lager you can get. Hence it's often relatively expensive. Afaik it's the only draught lager we can get that's brewed in accordance with Reinheitsgebot.

    Also it actually has flavour...

Do prefer the proper 5% draft becks though - stronger in flavour I find.

Though I love becks, only problem is if the gas is at all low it tends to taste watered down.

as for SIN, I kinda liked it.

Not when it is a Wednesday and every other club in town is doing a student night offering drinks for 2 or 3 euro with similiar entrance fees.

Examples please? With prices included and of what drinks?

    Alright then

    Tripod-Heat
Double Vodka + Red Bull only e6.50. ALL PINTS 3EUR. Selected Alcopop only e3! Entry in 8e, so basically you saved 3.50 on vodka or at least 1 euro each pint.

XXI entry is 7 and all drinks are 3

I could go on but one would think that it being a student night, and that Ents could bring a guaranteed crowd, the price would be a bit more student budget friendly, no?

    Don't Redz do a €2 a drink deal?

    Then go somewhere else "ffs"!

You chose to go there, when you knew the price of drinks elsewhere, so you can't really complain about it, even if it was a SU event.

It would be a different matter if the SU said it was the cheapest night out, or best deal.

there's also some retard like the above poster than chimes in with "go somewhere else, just accept crap treatment".

    ENTS should do better.
ENTs are having a **** term.

He didn't have to go there.. but he wanted to and he did, and got a free drink out of it.

Drink is expensive here - get over it. Thats not ENTS fault, so stop bitching about them for it.

Hey,there is no need to get all agro.

Yeah you are right but I didn't have to go there. Yes Drink is expensive in Ireland

    BUT

ENTs is in charge of organising college social nights out, which considering they are marketed to students, who are generally on a budget, should be cheap. Of course they should provide some premium events, like the Freshers Ball but they should mostly organise good value ones.So far they have barely organised anything that I would consider good value, especially considering that most of the nights out have been on relatively slow Days like Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I'm not attacking them and saying they have done a terrible job, I appreciate the amount of work that's put in, but they don't think about students on a budget!

I'm not getting pissed at you nikolaitr,

But I can't stand this 'X is shi$e and I'm just going to bitch about it attitude'

If you are unhappy with ENTS, a society or the SU or whatever, GET IN TOUCH with them!! Tell them you think that the Champagne Ball was bad because of reasons X, Y and Z and hear what they have to say.

I seriously doubt that the ENTS lads don't think about student budgets, and that they go about booking crap venues intentionally.
However if you email them or go ask the ents officer, you might find out that they had good reasons to do it, those reasons might not suit you but they might suit the majority and if they don't, they will get the criticism and (probably) next time organise it better.

If you get fobbed off by them, or they ignore you, or say that they booked the most expensive events in order to keep students out, then you have a legitimate reason to complain and more power to you for doing so, but just bitching about them and not bothering to look in to why they did it the way they did is really pissing off.

Just to say - I don't know any of the ents lads, I don't drink and haven't been to any ents events this year, I just can't stand mindless moaning.

Hey, If you read my first point you'll see there was no bitching in it, in fact I commended the work put in. All I did was ask whether other students felt the same way as I did. Hardly "mindless moaning".

On the ENTS bebo there's a poll saying "when should the mystery tour be?" then the poll has all the weeks WRONG. THe other ents offier just put on two mystery tour without any stupid (and wrong) polls.
