    no I don't think it's 2 platters, it's using the new perpendicular technology (video:D).

Would be nice in my iRiver too:D

well the highest tosh' offered per platter was 40gb (WITH pmr) so 50/platter would be the next stage. there's no way it'd be able to more than double that straight off... it has to be two platters.

Ok cool, sure I don't know anything about that side of things, didn't see any mention of 2 platters and thought the PMR was the step up in technology:)

    Stupid question perhaps.

I was looking up 1.8" drives for a friend's iRiver that was on it's way out. All the ones that I found online either said Apple/iPod on them or in the description. I'm presuming that there would be no problem putting them in a different player? Guessing it just said Apple or iPod on them seeing as they seem to be the ones that appear to die the most?

I'm afraid these 100 giggers wont work on iRiver as the connection yolky mabob is something beginning with Z and the iRiver ones are IDE I think.. See I know my stuff;)

ZIF connector? Or as the Japanese have, LIF?

Edit: Apparently, these drives use ATA-7 which is SATA. Hmm.

ok the non zif connector drives' serial number ends with a 6, e.g. mk2006gal and should work fine, the mk2008/3008etc ones won't work with the iriver connector. Ipod drives are partitioned in a certain way that makes them screw up in other players but I think you can format them in such a way as to allow use in other players. damn apple.
