    Hi,

I have an old compaq p3, About 600Mhz 128 Ram. When i start it , it just beeps and wont boot. Nothing comes on the screen. I have tried reinserting the ram and graphics card to no avail.

Any troubleshooting advice would be appreciated!

Does it just beep once or more?

BIOS Central has lists of beep codes so as long as you know make, model and preferably BIOS maker name it may help you out.

Worked for me yesterday when I did a new build and got three long beeps...looked up the code and felt really stupid when I realised I'd forgotten to put the RAM into the machine :o

Have a look HERE as it lists Compaq beep codes.

The one you describe sounds like the second on the list. Could be the CMOS battery has failed. Sometimes just removing the battery and replacing it again can get it to work for a while....or replace the battery. Could also be a corrupt BIOS so also worth resetting that with the CMOS reset jumper.
