    Hi there,

It seems the LIDL DVD player discussed in this thread is long sold out.

What is the cheapest DVD player that plays DivX or Xvid available.

A USB port to play files directly would be a big plus also.

    Any ideas where to look?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Thanks guys,

I just placed an order with SVP for blank discs yesterday, hopefully it's not too late to add in the DVD player too before it sends.

Let me know if anyone else knows of any bargains.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Are the DVD players in Tesco and the likes not just as good as the ones linked here? I'm in the market for a cheap one myself but would prefer to buy from somewhere I could easily return it to if it went bad:o

I want to get a Sat Nav off pixmania, does anyone have any experience of that DVD player on it? looks good but unknown brand, could be dodgy, especially to buy online. Can't find anything on google :(

Does the pixmania one have USB? I don't see it mentioned? What does the USB feature allow?

No, the one above does not. This one does.

The USB allows you to play media from a pen drive or ext harddrive.

So the BIOSTEK DVD/DivX/USB XE 350 PRO Player from Pixmania costs €41 + 21 delivery, a total of €62 and the Umax Kazuki DVD-7400X MPEG4/DivX/DVD Player/USB from SVP works is £49.20 including delivey making it about €73.

Is this the cheapest price I'm going to be able to get for a DVD player with USB input without queuing up outside a Lidl or an Aldi at 8am?

if you want to get one from a physical shop, Argos and Powercity both sell the Philips 5960 for about 100 lids. It has USB and DIVX support (though the Argos catalogue doesn't make this clear).

Do these ones specifried, ( from peats and pixmania) have the same 512mb limitation when reading from a USB stick as was seen with the lidl players.

I don't see why they would.

It would be a serious problem though, I want to be able to use my 2Gb Usb Stick with them.

Any more suggestions, they have a €34 DVD Player in Dunnes at the moment but it doesn't play DivX files :(

the 512mb limitation is incorrect - if you read the other threads on those players you'll see plenty of people got them to work with large-capacity hard disks.

Get philips from harvey norman,or post ad on boards, wanted usb/divx dvdplayer on adverts.ie .Try to get 1 that has component and progressive/upscaling mode.Or wait 2 months for lidl/adli to get new ones in stock.
