Coldplay, The Streets and Kaiser Chiefs become DJs

    As they replace Zane Lowe

Coldplay's Chris Martin, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson and The Streets' Mike Skinner are set to become radio DJs.

The bands are to stand in for Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 slot in the first three weeks of January 2007, as he is on leave.

The Automatic, The View and Snow Patrol are amongst the other artists presenting.

The shows will be broadcast between 7 and 9pm.

Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson and drummer Nick Hodgson will kick off proceedings on January 2, with Chris Martin completing the run on January 18.

    The line up is:

Ricky Wilson and Nick Hodgson (January 2)
    Editors (3)
    The Young Knives (4)
    The Streets (8)
    The Automatic (9)
    Snow Patrol (10)
    Kelly Osbourne (11)
    Jamie T (15)
    The View (16)
    The Zutons (17)
    Chris Martin (18)

This sounds like a laugh. Anything to get a break from Zane Lowe is nice really...

Ah I don't mind Zane on the radio....not a fan of the TV show though.
Skinner will be a laugh on the show, Chris Martin less so (IMO); if they can keep up the wide variance in musical style and the energy Zane puts into the slot then it's all good...

Guest DJs can be very hit and miss; anyone but Tong on the essential selection invariably ends up being a complete disaster, even when they're decent DJs.
