system name change

    i bought my pc second hand was wondering if i can chamge the name on it so when i save thing it will have my name in the location this is how it saves now
    C:\Documents and Settings\Ross\My Documents\My Pictures
    so i want to change the ross bit to my own name can it be done and if do whats invovled thanks to anyone who can help

    Your OS would help. Posting in Windows would also be nice.

    Ross = user account.

    Start -> control Panel -> Users & Accounts.
    Create an account with your name.
    C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\My Pictures etc. is created. Move stuff over if needs be. Then remove the previous user,etc.

    i think u need to edit the registry google for "changing registered computer name" google groups may be the best this may help http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm line7 line 109 and line 131 if u run win xp

    you renamed the account

    you should have created a new one, logged into new one, copied stuff over and delete original
