    Hi All,

Just looking for a bit of advise, I found this store
    http://www1.hardwareversand.de

Their prices for PC components is excellent, but they don't take Visa, the only thing an international customer can do is a funds transfer to their account and once confirmed they will send the goods.

Anyone used this company or similar?

Have you done the fund transfer? Is it easy? What do the banks here charge to do the transaction?

    Thanks

    Snake ;)

I do regular Euro transfers . There's a form to fill out in the bank. You will need IBAN,BIC, bank address, account number and customer details. It will usually go through in about two working days or so. Not sure of general costs but shouldn't be too much . I pay nothing.

Its not hard to do, I done the Interpay thing with Bank of Ireland to transfer to a German store on eBay, it took about 3-5 days. No problems.

It seems to be a common thing for German etailers not to accept credit card, in favour of money transfers.

Ok guys thanks for the input, I think I'll try it as I am buying components for a PC upgrade and I'm saving nearly 300 Euros compared to Komplett or Overclockers for the exact same order :)

    Thanks

Indeed, the Germans are credit-card phobic and many of the online retailers don't take them. It's the same when you are over there in person, it's simply amazing the number of places that don't take credit cards (and note Aldi/Lidl spread the word outside the country.) I suspect that they have a long-standing (and low-charge) indigenous debit card system.

I have done bank transfers to German companies several times, in my experience it takes about 4-5 working days and costs 75c (AIB). You just need the SWIFT and IBAN (make sure you have them right!)

Nope, they don't. But bank transfers are common, easy and can be done with online banking. Still, it takes a few days as well and is annoying if you want something really fast as they always wait for the money to arrive in their account. A lot of retailers are not willing to pay the Visa charge and credit cards are not as ubiquitous (sp.) as here.
Incidentally, AIB's online banking now allows to bank transfers online too (with a transaction no. system) and IBAN and BIC.

Wrong. They have the EC card which is similar to Laser. It's accepted in pretty much all major shops.
